Ed "Big Daddy" Roth was a larger than life spokesman for the Revell model company in the 1960s. He designed and built wild show rods that later became some of Revell's most famous model car kits. Roth was a key figure in Southern California's Kustom Kulture and hot rod movement of the late 1950s and 1960s. In addition to the show rods, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth also created some famous characters such as the Rat Fink. It all started for Ed in a small garage in Southern California where he did pinstriping and detailing on all kinds of cars. In addition to pinstriping cars, Big Daddy was famous for airbrushing wild t-shirts. It was on these t-shirts that we got to first see Ed's wild characters like the Rat Fink. Then, just like they had done with Ed's wild cars, Revell made plastic model kits of Ed's famous characters such as the lovable Rat Fink, Mr. Gasser, Surfink and Scuz-fink. Atlantis Models keeps the tradition going by re-issuing "Big Daddy"s wonderful creations in all their original glory.
